The Makerbot Smart Extruder +, released in 2016 is the new edition of the Smart Extruder for 5th Generation Makerbots. It is a all in one extrusion system that attaches with magnets. This model is not compatible with the Z18.
Features updated since the original version:
- Stronger Magnets: for better attachment to the machine
- Longer Pins: for better connection and communication
- Improved Filament Presense Sensor: to detect filament run-outs better
- Encoder Wheel Upgrades: This measures small movement of filament. They have over-moulded the encoder wheel to minimise under extrusion and false filament detection
- Longer PTFE tube: for a drastic reduction in clogging
It has been tested for greater print success over a longer period of time.
