Bilby3D’s Abrasive Filament range includes fibre-filled and particle-reinforced materials such as carbon fibre, glass fibre, Kevlar, and ceramic-filled composites.
These materials deliver superior strength, stiffness, and heat resistance — ideal for functional prototypes, jigs, fixtures, and engineering components.
However, their abrasive additives significantly increase wear on brass nozzles; a hardened steel, stainless or silicon carnbide nozzle is strongly recommended for long service life. A 0.6mm of larger nozzle size is recommended to avoid clogging.
The surface finish often has a rough, almost sand-cast like texture, which is can be visually appealing. Also warping can be reduced by this reinforcing during printing, and UV resistance improved (See PA+CF).
