This aluminium heaterblock is used on MK8 extruders - those with a M6 threaded nozzle and barrel/heatbreak. It has a 6mm hole with grub screw for the heater cartridge and a M3 threaded hole for a thermisitor, which can also be used with the button head screw (supplied) to hold a glass bead thermistor in place

Ceramic Insulation Tape
This 1 inch wide ceramic tape is used to wrap your heater block and reduce heat transfer to both the extruder and your work piece. Fix by wrapping in kapton tape.
The tape on your Reprap will need replacing from time to time, especially when a print fails and the melted plastic gets caught up in the print head - it can sometimes stick to the ceramic tape and rip it on removal - careful not to pull on the temperature sensor wire!
